DBT0272: Sue Grafton – Y Is For Yesterday
Sue Grafton’s books are so widely talked about, and her character Kinsey Milhone is a classic in the mystery genre. What a series, and so many of the books are so incredible.
Q is one of the ones I remember so well. If you haven’t read that one, you must!
Y is so different, with a story that spans both 1979 and 1989, and it goes back and forth, as we get to see what really happened 10 years before. And it is such a timely book. So many people filming things all the time, there is no privacy any more. That makes the world somewhat of a scary place, unless you don’t care that you are being filmed. In this story, Grafton explores what has happened to some people as a result.
I have loved this series for so long! I met Sue Grafton when “L Is For Lawless” came out.
This is probably the longest book in the series, almost 600 pages total. Kinsey and Henry’s friendship is one of my favorite parts of the series, and Henry is over 40 years older than Kinsey.
What a fun series over the years, and yes you have your favorites, but that is the same with every series. I cannot find an exact figure of how many books have been sold in the series, but it is MILLIONS! The last figure I see is 12, but i has to be much more than that. They are sold all over the world!
This is one of the most interesting interviews I have done, and I was shocked by some of the things she said. I did not even know she was married now! A very private lady, but classy and honest, and easy to talk to.
Listen to this fascinating interview!
